Prisoner Letter Writing

Once per month, NEAG hosts a prisoner letter writing session in the North-East of England. We aim for these sessions to:

  • Act as a casual setting to discuss organising and future actions
  • To teach others on prison abolition and writing to prisoners
  • To create a social environment to write and show solidarity with prisoners
  • To maintain a regular anarchist public presence in the region to help with new people joining.

No experience is necessary to come, and whilst we are an anarchist group, we are open to anyone who wants to show a little solidarity with prisoners. We will provide absolutely everything you need (but stamp donations are always welcome!)

Whilst we often run these events in Newcastle, we have ran these sessions in Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough and even further afield in places such as Derry!

If you want to read something before coming along to prepare yourself, here are two short articles to read about prisoner writing:

When and where is the next prisoner writing session?

Date: 28th September 2025, midday onwards

Location: Canny Little Library, Star and Shadow Cinema, NE2 1BB

Updates and future sessions can be found on our social media (linked at the bottom of this webpage).
